Daihatsu Sirion 4 Generation Cars

Besides the name Sirion, these car models have several names attached to them, including Daihatsu Storia, Daihatsu Boon, Toyota Duet, Toyota Passo, Subaru Justy, and Perodua Myvi.

Recently, this series has four generations, such as M100, M300, M600, and M800 models. Please note that there might be differences in the release of the car. Thus, the generation’s order, name, and year of production might differ according to the countries. Below are the details:

1. First Generation (M100, 1998 – 2004)

The first generation of Daihatsu Sirion is the M100 model. This car is available in two engines, including the three-cylinder 1.0-liter version and the four-cylinder 1.3-liter one. This model has excellent fuel economy, first-class reliability, and adequate space for a small car.

Also, it possesses five doors that can give you convenience by having a lot of features, including four electric windows, mirrors, central locking, and dual airbags. This car is easy to maintain and very reliable. Moreover, it can handle both long country and city driving well.

The M100 series has two choices for transmission, the five-speed manual and the four-speed automatic. Surprisingly, autos don’t take as much out of the performance as the Sirion is pretty light.

In addition, it is easy to do manual gear shifting, so it won’t be too hard to do it on your own. Unfortunately, as part of the earliest models, this car doesn’t have air conditioning and power steering.

Besides, all of the cars available for purchase are the used versions because the production of this model stopped in 2004. The pricing range of the first-generation cars starts from $2,310 to $4,070 based on information from Cars Guide.

2. Second Generation (M300, 2005 – 2010)

The first introduction of the M300 model was in 2005. It has dimensions of around 3.6 meters long, 16.55 meters wide, and 15.5 meters high. At first, the M300 model launched with two engines, the 1.0-liter version and the 1.3-liter one.

Later on, the sports variant with a 1.5-liter unit was introduced in 2007 to boost the car’s range. The car’s peak power and peak torque are 64kW at 600 rpm and 120 Nm at 3200 rpm. Additionally, this model comes with the MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear axle.

This model has the same transmission choices as its predecessors, the four-speed automatic or five-speed manual. The second generation model of Daihatsu Sirion also offers a lot of interior space for these types of vehicles with compact dimensions.

Meanwhile, due to the large amount of cabin space, it makes the rear luggage space smaller. Surprisingly, seats inside the car are firm and capable of giving good support, especially for broad-shouldered drivers.

In addition, dual front airbags, front seatbelts with pre-tensioners, and load limiters always exist in this model. Furthermore, there is also optional safety equipment, including front-seat-mounted airbags, full-length curtain airbags, and an electronic anti-lock braking system (ABS).

According to SBT Japan, the Sirion second-generation price ranges from $1,860 to $3,220, depending on the variant and additional features installed.

3. Third Generation (M600, 2011 – 2017)

At first, the look of the M600 is quite similar to the previous generation. But, there are some changes on the front part of the car. These changes include the grille, bumper, lights, bonnet, and the car velg that changes to 16 inches.

The 2013 version uses K3-VE DOHACT VVT-i with 1.3 liters for the cylinder capacity. This car’s peak power is 90 ps at 6000 rpm and 11,9 Nm at 4400 rpm for the peak torque. In addition, the fuel tank capacity can store up to 40 liters and is very fuel efficient.

Daihatsu Sirion M600 uses a MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam for the end part. Besides, the front braking system already uses a ventilated disc.

Unfortunately, the steering wheel in this version doesn’t have the audio steering switch settings, but it already uses the tilt system. This system allows drivers to adjust the steering wheel height with an up-and-down motion.

For safety, the M600 series is equipped with dual SRS airbags with safety belts available for every passenger. Meanwhile, the price range of the third generation ranges from $2,540 to $4,040 as stated in SBT Japan.

4. Fourth Generation (M800, 2018 – Present)

Now, let’s move to the last one, the fourth generation. The Daihatsu Sirion M800 model is available in two variants. The new features in this version include the shark fin antenna, wiper with the censor, and two-point parking censor for the front and back. Also, the front and rear lights now feature LED technology.

The car uses a 4-cylinder 1-3 liter 1NR-VE DOHC VVT-i engine with peak power of 95 ps at 6000 rpm and 119 Nm at 4200 rpm for peak torque. Both automatic and manual transitions are also available in this series.

Inside the car’s cabin, the upgraded interior is noticeable with features like head unit 2DIN, MID (Multi-Information Display), port USB, and digital air conditioning. Another notable feature of this car line is the wiper. The wiper’s speed will automatically adjust to your car’s speed.

The M800 model is equipped with 4 airbags, ABS, VSC, and even EBD for safety purposes. In 2020, there’s a facelift to add more features, such as the front aero kit and side stone guard for the exterior.

The head unit also has some changes that include the mirror link feature. Furthermore, the car’s price ranges from $14,703 to $15,294, as stated on the OTO website.
